Project Description


The Self powered Free Cooling System (SAF Cooling) consists of an improved wind system, which has been coupled with an electric current generator (dynamo, alternator, etc.) making it a thermodynamic machine for producing electric energy and hot. The movement of the windmill-extractor is produced taking advantage of the temperature difference between the inside and outside of an enclosure; Placed the windmill in the evacuation conduit, the hot gases will accelerate the rotary movement, which, in turn, will move the associated current generator. It consists of the following parts:

  • Windmill-extractor.
  • Electric current generator.
  • Vertical axis mill with wing effect.

This new system can be classified in three ways:

“Renewable energy”, because it generates electricity from the natural currents (chimney effect), which is why we could also define it as “Cogeneration” and for its efficient use of the wind we must define it as “Mini-Aeolian Project”.

The outstanding proposals are potentially interesting because of the characteristics that we summarized below:

  • Strategic interest – Reduces the consumption of primary energies.
  • Industrial Interest – It supposes a new industrial and business line, complemented by new products derived from the experience and the evolution of the device.
  • Environmental interest – Increases efficiency and reduces electricity costs and abounds in self-consumption.
  • Cost effective for energy companies that act as agents – Opportunity to manage surplus energy.
